The Chiltern Society is a large environmental organisation actively helping to 'Care for the Chilterns'. This beautiful hilly landscape of 650 square miles, only 30 miles northwest of London, has many large towns within it or nearby. Extra care is needed to protect it for its thousands of visitors and residents to enjoy, and safe for future generations
Many members join the work of various Groups, which might be studying planning proposals, keeping our 2,300-mile footpath network usable and arranging twice-weekly walks, watching over our built heritage, looking after our own woodland, our restored watercress beds or our windmill, or monitoring our precious chalk streams, just some of our many activities.
All work is voluntary, and entirely dependent on members for its continuing success. There are many ways you too can help us care for the Chilterns. More information on the Chiltern Society
